Capitalism vs. AAU basketball Part-2

They say that capitalism is the American way, I have had an opportunity to see much basketball in this country. but over the years I’ve seen the mindset of our young people change. There is a saying that we have when the ball stop bouncing, what are you going to do with your mind, September 19, 2015 I had an opportunity to see much talent gathered together in the city of Las Vegas. A showcase that was put on by phase 1 hoops. Scouting services were in the house such as rivals scouting, B.I Reports( Dain Ervin), ESPN Scouting service, Ryan Silver from West Coast Elite, but one of the things that struck me most was a comment that was made by Mr. Silver when he acknowledge a young man with a GPA of 4.25 who is looking forward to attending A Ivy League school. His name was Jake Epstein of (Meadows High School) in Las Vegas, Nevada. The question that I have is what are we promoting, are we looking for the next great phenomenon who can jump high, who can shoot well, are run fast. Are we looking for young men who can help change the condition of our world, these are the questions that needs to be addressed in this capitalistic society that focus on capitalizing off  our young people. I stress the point to all of these programs that we need to have a common ground where we can work together and not be so divide regardless of our success on the court. The basketball world is a world with in itself and it has great influence on our young people, programs must show some type of unity among one another, we cannot be divided thinking that we are showing our children the right way. I see young players rank in the top 100 in the country failing classes that they need to qualify for college, some of these young men cannot pass the ACT’s or the SAT’s. It’s nothing wrong with having a shoe company sponsor you but we should also stressed to the shoe company’s the importance of education. For example in the State of Nevada and the city of Las Vegas we rank in the bottom in education in America, but we are promoting our children to this game of basketball without them understand the importance of their future, what are we setting these young men up for, to me it looks like failure. so I stress to the new basketball Mecca on the West Coast Las Vegas Nevada, it’s very important when the time comes doing the summer sessions that there must be a basketball conference that stress the importance of education we must bring in these intellectual minds to check and address the issue to some of these coaches who don’t understand that it’s not about wins and losses, but it’s about character building in our young men. So I close on this note to all remember that God will never change the condition of a people till the people design for there condition to be change. WE REP OUR CITY!!!!
